Preaching at UKZN

Went out on Thursday 9th April 2015 with Brother MInternet Archivearius Louw and proclaimed the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and Him crucified. The audio can be heard by clicking on the logo to the right >>>

The Scripture portion was from Luke 13:24-30 ~

24  Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.
25  When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:
26  Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.
27  But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.
28  There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.
29  And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God.
30  And, behold, there are last which shall be first, and there are first which shall be last.

Preaching our Lord Jesus Christ outside a Soccer Stadium

Today, had the honour of raising our Great God and Lord Jesus  Christ’s (Yeshua haMeshiach) name outside the Harry Gwala Stadium South Gate in Pietermaritzburg, before the PSL match between Maritzburg United and SuperSport United, on the actual Hebrew Passover (Nisan 14) that would commence at sunset. Brothers Jono Anderson and Marius Louw joined Gary to distribute Gospel tracts and engage the fans in conversation.Internet Archive

The preaching today was taken from 1 Corinthians 15:3-8 which reads as follows:

3  For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4  And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
5  And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:
6  After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.
7  After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles.
8  And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ~ 1 Corinthians 15:3-8

Please pray, trusting God for an increase of souls in His Kingdom.

School’s Out !

Yesterday, April 1, 2015, the South African schools’ first term came to an end with the commencement of the “Easter* holidays.” Whilst waiting for my grandson, I had earlier rounded up the troops, brothers Marius and Jono, to come out and sow the seed of the Word to waiting parents, grandparents, and the like, as well as the soon arriving school staff and scholars eager to go on vacation!

The open-air preaching of our Lord Jesus Christ and Him crucified came from:

13  Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14  Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
~ Matthew 7:13

The pupils at one point were called back by the teacher on duty as she said they could not leave the premises without their parent(s) – but this shows how children gravitate to the Good News and are hungry for the Word whilst their “elders” tend to reject the same – though not all. We pray for our Father in Heaven to bring a harvest for His glory alone.

* Easter or Passover? Here is a two part explanation dealing with the following portion of Scripture:

1  Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church.
2  And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.
3  And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)
4  And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.
5  Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him. ~ Acts 12:1-5 (Authorised Version KJV)

Preaching at the UKZN PMB Campus

Friday March 20, 2015

This was our most recent endeavour to see where Almighty God would lead us to evangelise. After much prayer and seeking God, Jono Anderson and Gary Crous came out to make known the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to the students attending the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) in Golf Road at the Pietermaritzburg Campus. We took up our position outside the “Psychology Faculty”. Whilst Gary preached the holiness of Yehovah (YHVH) and called the female students to dress modestly and to not prostitute their bodies and go a whoring in fornication, he was approached by an Indian female student wanting to “say something”, and she certainly did as the preaching continued, when she spewed out filth saying to Gary that he must “take your Bible and your Christianity and screw yourself” before she stormed off. We count it all pleasure to be reviled for our Master’s Name and Gospel.

11  Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
12  Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
~ Matthew 5:11,12

Our Father had certainly opened a door to proclaim His glorious Son’s Name – a Name which is above every name (see Philippians 2:9). God has shown us that there are many in need of hearing the Truth. Praise be to His Holy Name!

Wednesday March 25, 2015

On our second trip back this past week, brothers Jono Anderson and Gary Crous were accompanied by brother Marius Louw. This time we decided that whilst this God-given door remains open for the preaching and witnessing one-to-one or to small groups of our Great God’s Word, we would take a portable plastic table to set up our Gospel literature, tracts and Bibles on. It has been a huge success. We had approximately 400+ pieces of Gospel items distributed to the foot-traffic passing by during our two hours of ministry. Here are a “before” (left) and “after” (right) snap shots of the table – and other Gospel materials were also distributed not in the “before” photo:

Internet ArchiveBy clicking on the Internet Archive logo to the right >>> you can listen to the audio of the preaching from Matthew 24. It also includes the recording of an African man that approached Gary while preaching to “rebuke” him for wearing short pants. This man used the Scripture (at the time we could not recall the same) Psalm 147:10 which has no bearing to a man wearing short pants – it shows the legalism that is manifest in “churches” that people attend. The Psalm reads as follows when one reads it in context with verse 11:

10  He delighteth not in the strength of the horse: he taketh not pleasure in the legs of a man.
11  The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy. ~ Psalm 147:10,11

A counter-correction would have been whether this man had ever read the account of king David dancing before the LORD as we read in 2 Samuel 6:14-23 and in the words of Michal the daughter of Saul (in verse 20) who “rebuked” king David, “How glorious was the king of Israel to day, who uncovered himself to day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself!” Legalists will twist Scripture when the LORD sees one’s heart of rejoicing before the LORD / preaching the Gospel! This same African man was also caught in his own words when he referred to the beginning of Creation as “billions of years …”! A professing Christian duped by the University’s teachings of Darwinian evolution lies! Deception is rife!

A man named Samuel was also engaged on the audio calling him to repentance.

Friday March 27, 2015

On the Friday, brothers Marius and Gary proclaimed our Lord Jesus Christ and Him crucified to the many varsity students that passed by. Approximately a further 250+ items of Gospel literature, various types of tracts, Gospel of John books, Scripture booklets and two Bibles were distributed in about two hours or so. The “before” and “after” snap shots are again available:

In the 1st Part of the preaching today the Scripture portion was:Internet Archive

1  This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2  For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3  Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4  Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5  Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. ~ 2 Timothy 3:1-5

IMG-20150327-00510 This day we also had some engaging conversations. Gary had a conversation with a young lady named Sijabulisile Khumalo (“Jabu”) who attends the Christ Apostle (CA) church, an African Traditional-type church, where there is a dress code for women that stigmatises whether she is a virgin or not by wearing a blue collar, which is part of the dress code uniform, or not, respectively. You can Internet Archivehear this conversation in Part 2 that can be found at the aforementioned link or by pressing the Internet Archive logo to the right >>>

Whilst Gary was discussing issues with  Jabu, brother Marius was involved in a discussion with Zinhle Ntuli who also attends an IMG-20150327-00512African Traditional-style church where there is sacrificing that takes place, which is an abomination to Almighty God!

Later on Gary also had two men on separate occasions confess that the preaching of the Word of God was like darts in the heart or the word was cutting the heart. We need to pray for everyone who heard the word today, and especially for these young men, namely (hope the spelling is correct) Sumange and Sibusiso Zulu. May God save them and receive all the glory alone!

Brother Marius also took to “the box” for the first time and expounded upon the portion of Scripture of The Rich Man and Lazarus from Luke 16:19-31.

Human Rights Day 2015

IMG-20150321-00497 On Saturday March 21, 2015 was the South African public holiday known as “Human Rights Day.” It was also a day on which the funeral of Mrs Gwala, the widow of the first mayor, the late Mr Gwala, of the Msunduzi Municipality post 1994, was taking place inside the Pietermaritzburg City Hall. There were some politicians, chauffeurs, mourners and SAPS / Traffic Law Enforcement officers standing about when a message was preached from Isaiah 5:20 ~

20  Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Please listen to the message calling men and women to repentance toward God and faith toward our LInternet Archiveord Jesus Christ (see Acts 20:21). A photo-journalist also came across the street and spoke briefly to brother Jono Anderson who was handing out some Gospel literature, before he started taking some photographs of the preaching. You can hear a discussion Gary had briefly with Fraser Mnchali at the conclusion of the preaching. Kindly  press the logo to the right for the audio of the open-air preaching session >>> or HERE.

Be a Blessing to Nations

On Sunday March, 1 2015, I was down to leading our service at Living Hope with the usual welcome, bulletin announcements, a Scripture reading and an opening prayer.

We are reminded in 1 Corinthians 14:26 ~

26  How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.

A doctrine was given pertaining to evangelism where we are called to be a blessing to nations; to every tribe and tongue and people group. The Scripture reading was done in three parts. First, Psalm 67 ~

1  To the chief Musician on Neginoth, A Psalm or Song. God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause his face to shine upon us; Selah.
2  That thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations.
3  Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee.
4  O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for thou shalt judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon earth. Selah.
5  Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee.
6  Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us.
7  God shall bless us; and all the ends of the earth shall fear him.

This Psalm has its roots in the covenant YEHOVAH (YHVH – God) made with Abram – later to be named Abraham, father of many nations, as secondly we read in Genesis 12:1-3 ~

1  Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
2  And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
3  And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

Kindly note, God says in verse 2:

  1. I will bless thee;
  2. I will make thy name great; and
  3. Thou shalt be a blessing.

And in verse 3, God says: “in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.”

The Great Commission started in Genesis 12:1-3. The Great Commission is the Abrahamic covenant and the Abrahamic covenant is God’s unchanging purpose for this world. Thirdly, in Galatians 3:8, we read ~

8  And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.

The gospel, the good news of the Kingdom of God, was already preached to Abraham in Genesis 12:1-3, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.

Today the Church has a misconception of what it is to be blessed. The Church tends to think that to be blessed of God is that the blessings come in possessions, material objects, lots of riches for one’s self and family. But the true blessing is that you have been blessed by being saved from God’s wrath and what you have is what God has given you to be a blessing to the nations, taking the gospel of Christ to the unreached peoples of the world. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16).

In the Great Commission verses in Matthew 28:18-20 the word nations is the Greek word ethnos from which we get “ethnics”, which refers to races, tribes especially foreign, pagan, Gentile, heathen, people, nation.

Whilst currently studying Missiology and evangelism I had to do a 2 Corinthians 13:5 examination of myself and it was not a pleasant experience. I do suggest that each and every person examine themselves to see whether they are being truly obedient to God’s commands. Go into your homes and see the entertainment that is there. Leonard Ravenhill said, “Entertainment is the Devil’s substitution for joy.” Entertainment robs us of what we are supposed to be undertaking for the Kingdom of God. What do you watch on Hellevision? How are you a blessing with your time and resources to the unreached people groups of the world?

Are we Jonahs? – running from our commission, that is co-mission with God. Are we asleep in the bottom of the boat while the storm rages outside, a judgment upon the earth, as we read in Romans 1:18 ~

18  For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

Or are we as Jonah oblivious to the raging storm directed at him/us? At times the Church too sleeps right through the storm of God’s judgment passing over the world assuring herself that the winds outside has nothing to do with her.

Here is the challenge – we going to hear about the heroes of the faith in Hebrews 11 (sermon of the day). Are we individually and corporately going to leave a mark on this generation that people will be speaking of after we have passed on, should our Lord tarry? Leonard Ravenhill hits the nail on the head when he poses the following, not verbatim: We have 24 hours in a day – if we sleep 8 hours, work 8 hours, what are we doing with the remaining 8 hours? Now put that in years. You live 60 years, 20 years you sleep, 20 years you work, what are you doing with the remaining 20 years?

I will end off with Thomas Carlisle’s poem “You! Jonah!”, which possibly sums up the tardiness of being a blessing to the nations, with these lines:

And Jonah stalked to his shaded seat
and waited for God to come around to his way of thinking.

And God is still waiting for a host of Jonahs
in their comfortable houses to come around to His way of loving.

Soli Deo Gloria!

Witnessing to a Hindu and a Mormon

I humbly take this opportunity of exhorting you to earnestly content for the faith given to all saints (Jude 3) as fellow labourers in Jesus Christ.

Friday (6 Feb.) I had a wonderful witnessing encounter with a Hindu women named Tammy during load shedding while waiting for The Hub stores to open. The Holy Spirit was working upon her heart as she was very receptive and listened intently. She was teary eyed (as was I) and said she needs to also speak to her mother as her parents had converted to Christianity just after she got married to her Hindu husband some years ago. Please pray for our Father to bring her to true salvation.

20150207-Ps Nene And Saturday (7 Feb.) after preaching the Gospel in the open-air for a second time, a Mormon woman who stopped by and listened on the side through the same was engaged by me afterwards. She too was receptive and open to correction from the Word of God. Her name is Cavennah (?) and please pray for her salvation of deliverance from the 20150207-Jono AndersonMormon cult.

The audio with the Mormon lady follows the Gospel preaching. You will also hear a pastor Nene who stopped earlier to hear the first preaching, up on the “diaz” preaching in isiZulu – do listen to the end. Kindly click on the Internet Archive logo below to hear the same.

We pray that GOD received all the Glory alone.

23  Am I a God at hand, saith the LORD, and not a God afar off?
24  Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD. ~ Jeremiah 23:23,24

11  Behold, the days come, saith the Internet ArchiveLord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:
12  And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it. ~ Amos 8:11,12
