Ballito Rage Festival 2014

This year was the tenth anniversary (2004-2014) of the Rage Festival in Ballito. From word on the street it appeared that the numbers were down from previous years (an answer to prayer) of matriculants (Grade 12ers) and other Raging party-seekers coming to party, booze and drug their way, expressing what they would think is “freedom” from school, teachers, parents and authority. Well, they had a rude awakening, for the Word of God says:

If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. ~ John 8:36

Saturday November 29

On our first day at the Rage Festival, Jarryd Cairns, Reece Cairns and Candice Simpson all from Hillcrest Baptist Church and writer from Living Hope in Pietermaritzburg, went down to the main beach where we saw many youngsters publically consuming alcohol, smoking a “hubbly-bubbly” and being reckless in partying and skateboarding in the streets. Pockets of street parties were also taking place on the main road through Ballito. We engaged some youngsters in conversation and also proceeded to open-air preach the Gospel of God to those on the beach. Many rejected the preaching, but there were many that by the leading of God that also stopped to listen on the beach and up on the boardwalk. Many Gospel tracts were also distributed to all willing to receive literature. We were also confronted by a young girl named Jessica who professed to be a Christian who was clad in a bikini. She was barely sixteen years of age and said that preaching as we did was only “scaring” the revellers off the beach. We shared with this young girl the Biblical way in which to share the Gospel, the way our Lord Jesus Christ did, the Apostle Paul did, Peter the Apostle did, and many other reformed puritans of the 16th and 17th centuries did, as well as us in the 21st century do. We also through much concern brought to her attention that if she being a Christian was encouraging other boys/men to look upon her body due to her immodest dress then she would be encouraging the lust of the eyes in adultery and therefore she would be seen as an adulteress. The proof text was:

27  Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
28  But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. ~ Matthew 5:27,28

Well, this did not go down too well, as she had told her dad Paul who tracked us down later in the evening with her mother and sister to address why writer had called his innocent daughter an “adulteress”. Obviously the entire story was not revealed to him, but we were also castigated by them for not befriending the sinners first and earning the right to speak to them about the Gospel, like they and the Red-frogs do! We heard first hand from a member of the Red-frogs – a ministry that offers free pancakes and who pick-up drunk teenagers – that they never force the Gospel unless asked to share it. Why wait until someone is blind-drunk or drugged-up to want to be a good-samaritan when it is then too late? What one must understand, on a short mission that is dealing with rebellious persons/teenagers – and I lay the blame squarely with their parents for allowing them to come to Ballito and be reprobate in their actions – is that you can’t go and engage in friendship evangelism as the time period is short. We come to proclaim the Gospel of Christ in obedience to our Lord’s command of the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15; Acts 1:8) to as large an audience as possible, and yes we engaged individuals too in one-on-one conversations showing them from the Holy Scriptures what is required of each person before a Holy, Just and Righteous God who is also merciful and gracious to sinners who will bow their knees and call upon Him in repentance for His salvation.

We had many conversations with youth, drunks, drug-addicts, the homeless, a Muslim, professing Christians and a devil-loving African man that said Satan is his father! Many people from all walks of life were confronted with the Son of Righteousness. We give all glory to God for using simple men to proclaim Truth. However, it is really sad when professing believers object as loud as the unbelieving dark and wicked world do to the preaching of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 1:21  For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

Brother Jarryd raising the name of our Great God the Lord Jesus Christ! Brother Reece is speaking to a "heckler" (red shirt) who said his father is Satan!

A small gathering listening to the Gospel of God (Romans 1:1) being proclaimed by Jarryd.

Please pray for this Muslim woman named Cathy who heard the preaching outside and came out from a deli she works in. Cathy was very receptive, asking questions and listening intently. We pray our Father was dealing with her heart. Much what was shared by us to her was a confirmation of what her husband had shared with her on other occasions. She also took much Gospel literature before going back to work. Soli Deo Gloria!

Sister Candice witnessing and discussing issues with a lady named Anna.

The homeless and destitute need the Gospel of God and much prayer. Please remember Gideon and Riaan in your prayers.

Saturday December 6

Jarryd and I went to Ballito to preach at the Rage Festival again on this day. Enroute we visited Stan and Tilly Webster for fellowship and stopped off at the Durban Beachfront and preached Jesus Christ open-air outside Joe Kool’s Restaurant. During this time in Durban we witnessed 1-on-1 with many souls. Please keep Jamisse (Mozambican), Sandile, Malcom (a homeless believer who joined us with tract distribution), Mamsi who came to Jarryd speaking to Malcom as she wanted to hear what was going down. Mamsi was open and teary eyed receiving the Word of Truth. She also enquired of a place where she could go and worship. We trust our Father will lead her in this regard and if she should contact us we are sure Stan, an elder at HBC, would be willing to direct her as he is resident in Durban.

We also started discussing and praising God on the water-edge with Nathi from Pietermaritzburg whilst the Gospel was being preached to the ears that would listen. Soli Deo Gloria!

Parable of the Great Supper

21 … Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind.
22 And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room.
23 And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled….
24 For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper. ~ Luke 14:21b-24

Proclaiming the Gospel of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ at the water edge on North Beach, Durban. An audience listened to the Word of God.

Outside a Spar convenient store in Ballito. There were a few alcohol consuming men who came to listen atop the roof of the Spar. Praise God.

Even when there is load-shedding (blackout) the Light still shines in a dark and wicked world!

Whilst there was load-shedding the Gospel of Christ was shared with some youngsters in the dark, who were from upcountry. Their names are: Ailene, Calvin, Nathan, Elias and Zayne. Please keep them in prayer.

We also ministered to some homeless men in the Spar parking-lot named Mark, (an Indian-man who was drunk) and John (who spoke about doing battle against the angels). Mark was really open and listened intently. Please keep these men in prayer.

There were many more persons that had one-on-one ministry that our Lord knows by name. To God be all the glory for answering our prayers of bringing those He wished to have us speak with across our paths. We are truly thankful to our Father in heaven that we did not stay home and allow people to go about without being warned and prayed for. As an encouragement to all Christ’s disciples reading this, stop hedging, and be obedient to Luke 9:23; our Lord Jesus Christ speaking ~

And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

Praise Report for the AFCON 2013 Evangelism

Orange Cup of Nations ~ South Africa 2013 :

We hereby give all praise to our Great God and King, our Lord Jesus Christ, for we are His workmanship created in Himself unto good works that He has had us walk in for His Glory!

On the evening of Friday January 18th our Lord’s servant left Pietermaritzburg by Shosholoza Meyl passenger train at around 21H50 for Johannesburg. Before departure, an open-air preaching of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, expounding upon the Law and Grace of our Almighty God, was conducted upon the station platform – the same railway station where Mahatma Gandhi was evicted from a train on the night of 7 June 1893 for riding first class – to a fair crowd of about 30-40 passengers waiting for the arrival of the train. They were also presented with an “Are You Ready?” Gospel Tract. The train trip was pleasant and I was looking forward to arriving in Johannesburg to see my dear Brother-in-Christ Sello Rasephei.

Saturday January 19 ~ Soweto, Johannesburg [PICS]

DSCF1435The arrival of the train was “running late,” but in God’s timing it was perfect as Sello had informed me by text message that he was engaging Jehovah Witnesses at Park Station, JHB with the True Gospel while he awaited my arrival. Praise Jehovah for a servant of God who also redeems the time for the proclamation of the Word of Truth!

En route to Sello’s home, we fetched and met Brother Neo Matsepe. After meeting Sister Pearl and the growing Rasephei family (four sons), freshening-up, sweet fellowship and a meal with the brethren, we headed out to fetch Ernest Gxagxama in Cosmo City who contacted us via our blog posting callingDSCF1449 soldiers of Christ to join up with us. The forecast was for a 80% chance of thundershowers which was on the day 100%! Thunder and torrential downpours greeted our arrival in Nasrec, Soweto where we would be evangelising outside the FNB National Stadium before the opening ceremony and the two opening matches. We had prayed for a place where no rain would be above us, and that is what we received from our Father. Just outside the stadium is a facility that has a high roof where spectators gather, and we found shelter from the inclement weather, although by this time, since DSCF1440our long walk there, we were pretty much drenched through and our shoes were filled with water. The weather was a blessing and the cross-walking and proclamation of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ went ahead unhindered by law-enforcement agents as an open door by our Father allowed thousands upon thousands of people to hear and receive the Word. We also do find that at these events the Devil is there to disrupt the preaching of God’s Word, especially with the deafening vuvuzelas, but we rejoice always and are also encouraged by brethren being challenged when they see the evangelising going forth!

Sunday January 20 ~ Lyttelton, Centurion and Park Station, Johannesburg [PICS]

After much travelling the night before and getting rest, we attended at the Bethany Baptist Church in Lyttelton for our Lord’s Day worship. After the morning service deacon Sello and I were able to minister whilst seated at a garden table outside, to a African man that normally visits at the Church on Sundays in a “drunken” state who sleeps in the pews! While he has heard the Gospel before from Brother Sello, we are sure the seed of the Living Word was planted and we pray for God to work in this man’s heart. Salvation is of the LORD (Jonah 2:9) as we also read:

Psalm 68:20 He that is our God is the God of salvation; and unto GOD the Lord belong the issues from death.

We returned to Sello’s home and after lunch, Brother Sello and I departed to go spend time evangelising before my train trip back home. Experienced also riding the Gautrain from Centurion, Pretoria to Park Station, Johannesburg which was a pleasant trip at high speed! Phew! Once we arrived at Park Station we decided to walk the main passenger area and wait on the Lord for evangelism opportunities. Whilst Sello carried the wooden cross, it was “magnetic” in drawing various people to us to engage in conversations. We had a gothic girl named Leigh that professed that she had called upon the Lord before who was begging money, saying she needed to pay for penalties on a bus fare. We were prompted by the Holy Spirit to witness to her and a deep conversation took place in the station main-hall. I asked her to draw-back her long sleeves and her arms were covered in tattoos, some crosses and even her knuckles were inked and on her arms were also many, many razor / knife cuttings. We ministered to her trying to find out more about this young woman who had short cropped hair and also various facial piercings. She said she had been in a rehab for drugs and that is where she found the Lord and that she was clean. She also had large sores on her arms, as I was looking for needle-marks, but she squeezed one sore that had puss ooze out of it. She said it was a “spider-bite”! But still some thing was not right with her, as she had a black star pendant around her neck which we said was demonic in appearance. She had black ear-studs and was predominantly dressed in black. At times she was teary eyed, as we pressed on with the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Then we noticed a black string necklace that disappeared below the neckline of her top. On asking her to take it out it was revealed that it was a Satanic silver disc with the pentagram on it and various symbols at each point. We rebuked the demonic spirit in the name of Jesus and said that she is wearing signs of Satan around her neck and she could not be a christian as she professed. This was a doorway, a foothold for Satan’s demons. Leigh told us that she was given this by some friends not so long ago and she never knew that it was demonic, however she was not at this time cutup about her sin in wearing it and by not removing it. We then gave her a booklet: Satan versus CHRIST (World Missionary Press, Inc.) and the “Are You Ready?” Gospel Tract. We pray and thank God that He brought Leigh across our path to witness Christ Jesus to her and hope she will come to true repentance. What stays with me now is the swagger that she left with, it was not womanly!

In the words of Brother Sello Rasephei:

While brother Gary was speaking to Leigh, I was approached by a lady whose husband was cheating on her. She claimed to be a Christian but didn’t live a holy life. Apparently her husband also gave his life to Christ a long time ago by being prayed for by a pastor, but i showed her that it’s not possible that he is saved based on his deeds. I also showed her the need for holiness and encouraged her to pray for her husband that God might give him repentance, and she left a very humble person. Pray that her husband might repent for his sins, and also that they may both come to the right knowledge of God.

Whilst speaking to this lady, a man who was working at the station approached me and asked me to pray for him as there are voices speaking inside his  head. I prayed for him that God might deliver him from whatever is bothering him. Immediately after praying, God revealed to me that this man is troubled by alcohol and nothing extraordinary as he was drunk whilst working. I showed him his need to repent from alcohol and all sins and trust in Jesus for deliverance from sin. At this moment he was very humble and tears were streaming down his cheeks. He asked that i might pray for him again which i did.

Afterwards i saw a girl and a boy of around 15 years who were holding hands amazed at the man carrying a cross. I approached them and asked them if they are friends, to which the girl proudly replied that they were lovers. In my astonishment I took them through the Law and showed them that they are displeasing to God, and that they are under His judgement unless they repent. The boy withdrew and stood by himself while I continued to speak to the young girl. I taught her the value of purity before marriage and how sex before marriage is not worth going to hell for. My mentioning of hell humbled both of them, especially the boy, as I understand that he was raised in a Christian home. I told them that if they love each other then God will bring them together in due time but fornication will lead them both to hell. They both left, but  now they were not holding hands and the arrogance had disappeared. I pray that God might lead them to Himself, and might keep them pure.

We were also encouraged to speak to a brother named Thembalethu Mxaka from the Eastern Cape province who works in Johannesburg, Gauteng Province. This was more an encouraging fellowship sharpening one another as we also discussed the Gospel of our Lord.

Later, we moved over closer to where a large gathering of bus passengers were congregated awaiting the buses to Durban and other destinations. Prompted by the Holy Spirit I preached on “In the Days of Noah” and the crowd was really attentive. Our great God gave us an open door to preach boldly in the Park Station hall without any disturbances. Many Gospel Tracts were handed out to all the passengers within the vicinity of the preaching. There was a young African lady that took out her Bible and checked up every Scripture reference made which was encouraging. This was the Lord’s Day, so she was getting Church before leaving for home in Durban. Praise be to God! Brother Sello also got into a Gospel presentation and called a witchdoctor woman to repent of her wicked ways! She did not and held fast to her demonic teachings!Another day of such wonderful good works that our Lord Jesus Christ lead us through – praise be to the Lamb, for worthy is the Lamb of God!

Sunday January 27 ~ Moses Mabhida Stadium, Durban [PICS]

Brother Lungisa Zondi and I headed out to Durban at about 15H00 to evangelise before the South Africa vs. Morocco soccer match. Our Great God and Father and our Lord Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit gave us much grace and boldness together with an open door to preach for about three hours in the face of much wickedness, and also through a sudden storm with heavy downpours. Gospel Tracts were distributed as always, some brief conversations were had, competing with the ever present vuvuzelas! Hundreds, if not thousands of Muslims heard that our Lord Jesus Christ is the ONLY way into paradise (heaven) and many of them laughed, joked and blasphemed the only begotten Son of God! They were summarily rebuked for their blasphemy and corrected and pointed to Christ Jesus in love. It is so sad that in our hearts we pondered that many of the people we saw today would be judged for their rejecting of Christ, who was there to meet them at their need of repentance, but they judged themselves unworthy of everlasting life (see Acts 13:46). We are reminded in the Holy Word of God:

John 8:24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

We also continually reminded the hordes of soccer fanatics that it is a sin to be “lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;” (see 2 Timothy 3:4). It was a truly blessed day to work in our Lord’s harvest and after dropping Brother Lungisa off at home I arrived home at about 20H35.

Saturday February 2 ~ Moses Mabhida Stadium, Durban [PICS]

We, Brothers Lungisa Nhlakanipho Zondi, Aziz Ebrahim (an ex-Muslim) and Gary Stephen Crous travelled to the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban to evangelise before the South Africa vs Mali football match. We had started off earlier on the beachfront where many conversations were had with some believers who have doctrinal issues that are unbiblical. Was able to preach outside the Suncoast Casino plaza where there are eateries with many patrons hearing the Gospel of our Blessed Lord Jesus Christ. Upon ending the open-air, a casino security officer arrived and spoke to Aziz, who was tracking the entrance and plaza of the casino, saying we cannot preach there. Surprisingly, there were about six SAPS Law Enforcement officers sitting just behind me within earshot of the preaching that said absolutely nothing during the entire preach. Maybe, the Gospel never went down well with the steak, egg and chips, or it was too hard to swallow with the calamari and garlic bread in the eateries and a complaint was raised! Our Great God knows the Truth behind this incident.

Later at the walkway to the stadium we were joined by pastor Sidney Francis from Johannesburg, who was encouraged the last Sunday when he saw us outside the stadium and had phoned me during the week to make arrangements to join us today. He and his huge family came out in force and were handing out some Bible story books at various points along the walkway.

During the course of the late afternoon, our Lord God brought two “old friends” past me at two separate occasions. We used to play soccer for the same football team at a stage, and they were also opponents at other times, but we were also back then “boozing buddies”, too! They heard that there is redemption from our sins only through our Lord Jesus Christ. Please join me in praying for the souls of my two friends Bobby Bestall and Dean Butler. The former refused all literature, but was warned that Christ will judge him upon the Day of Judgment and that through repentance and faith in Christ, Jesus can set him free from his sins and the wrath of God, and the latter took a Gospel tract and even said he was happy to see that I had changed, using an expletive (he was duly corrected) to describe my previous drinking habits to his friend, of which I am now delivered from to the Glory of God! Then there was also Tommy “the birdman” who stopped by  to encourage us and said he is born-again and hands out Bibles.

Later as the crowds arrived there was much blasphemy spewed out by Muslims at the preaching of the Living Word and ONLY God, Jesus Christ. A Muslim woman was reminded that she would need to have our Lord Jesus Christ on Judgment Day as her Advocate and Mohammed could not help her as he is a dead man. She told me to “Go to Hell!” Later her husband accompanied three SAPS’ Officers who came to speak to me and Aziz whilst Brother Lungisa was at another point reading from the Book of Hebrews. After dismissing the Muslim man they said we are offending some people and that we must be “tolerant” to their religions and faiths. I said we cannot be tolerant, but will continue to preach the Truth that they need to have our Lord Jesus Christ on Judgment Day! At the point that I asked them if the man had told them that his wife had said to me that I must “Go to Hell!” when we are trying to get them into heaven, they took a tract and allowed us to continue. Well our Great God always makes a way for His Glory!! Through out the evening there was much blasphemy! We keep them all in prayer that God would show them mercy! If not, Almighty God will be and still is Glorified – as we read:

Matthew 25:31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

Matthew 25:32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

Matthew 25:33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

Matthew 25:34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

Matthew 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

Brethren, Go into all the world, to every tribe, tongue and nation calling all to “repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ” (Acts 20:21b), “And of some have compassion, making a difference: And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh” (Jude 22,23).

Xmas Day / Holidays’ Evangelism

Today – being the false prediction of the Mayan’s Doomsday, or whatever they call it, being December 21, 2012, as the false prophets and idolaters have done and gone before and taught falsehood – we, brother Lungisa Zondi, my grandson Cee-Jay and myself, went out along the Durban beachfront to preach our Lord Jesus Christ and Him crucified, resurrected and ascended. We went and quelled the man-made rumours and preached the Truth sharing Matthew 24:36 ~

Matthew 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

Lungisa Durban BeachfrontWe were also blessed with meeting many people today as we shared Jesus Christ with many tribes, tongues and nationalities. It was a day spent for the glory of God Almighty alone.

Please keep Bheki Nhlumayo, Sandile, Thami and many other nameless individuals that our Great King and God Jesus Christ knows who were spoken to, received Gospel tracts and were ministered to privately and through the open-air preaching of God’s Word. We also ask that you keep an Indian man who blasphemed, cursed, ranted-and-raved, and even gave a growing crowd an “ear-tickling” word as to the god he shared. We pray for his hard and defiled (dirty) heart to be changed. We say dirty for it was the condition of his Mark 7 heart that poured from his mouth:

Mark 7:20 And he [Jesus] said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.

Mark 7:21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,

Mark 7:22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:

Mark 7:23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

Today we also shared the True birth of Jesus Christ from the Holy Scriptures in Luke 1 and 2 which is in the Hebrew month of Tishri (September/October) and not the false day of December 25! It was also  our first day in Durban being the beginning of this festive season in which we will be preaching Jesus Christ and Him crucified and warning people of their idolatries of celebrating Xmas that is also known as “the Profane Man’s Ranting Day, the Superstitious Man’s Idol Day, the Papist’s Massing Day, the Old Heathen’s Feasting Day, the Multitude’s Idle Day, and Satan-that Adversary’s-Working Day.”

Brethren, go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature, speaking all Truth! Including the true birth of Jesus Christ! If you preach anything else – you preach a different and false jesus!

Jesse and Ricky En-route to Nepal

Brothers Jesse Boyd and Ricky Springer of Full Proof Gospel Ministries came to Southern Africa en-route to Kathmandu in Nepal, India. After they had spent time proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ in Olieven Township in Gauteng they moved on to Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana and then back to Johannesburg, South Africa (Read Hailing from Africa by Jesse Boyd). It was at this time, that they came to spend a week at my home in Pietermaritzburg in KwaZulu-Natal from Sunday evening June 26th.It was a blessing to labour with the brethren as we went and spent a wind-swept and icy stay at Sani-Tops in Sani Pass, Lesotho. The Gospel was taken to the Basotho villagers and Sesotho tracts were handed out and winter socks were given to the villagers, too, as a gift from Jesse and Ricky. After an eventful night where the temperature plummeted to an icy -6 to -10 degree centigrade where we slept in a backpackers’ kitchen in our sleeping bags, we returned after we had spent the Tuesday morning bagging a peak.

Gary Crous (preaching), Vincent Piater, Ricky Springer and Kelsey Piater

On returning to South Africa on June 28th, we spent the remainder of the week proclaiming the Gospel in Pietermaritzburg at a bus shelter and outside the ‘Crowded House’ nightclub and upon the streets during late hour foot-traffic, then onto Howick at a taxi rank and upon the streets outside a shopping centre where predominantly Muslim shop owners heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ the Saviour and then onto the Howick Falls where Jesse preached to a group of young schoolgirls on what would appear an excursion – praise God. We also attended a Friday evening ekklesia meeting in Westville with Peter and Catherine McGregor at their home. At the gathering of believers we also met up with Vincent and Kelsey Piater and their brother Jeremy Piater who all had travelled down from Empangeni in Northern-KZN (Zululand) and a lovely Indian family who had recently come into fellowship at the McGregor’s home and another sister in Christ. Later that evening, the Southern-boys, the Piaters and I went and preached the Good News of our Lord Jesus Christ outside the ‘Bonkers Nightclub’ to groups of rowdy and drunk teenagers. Many tracts were handed out and many conversations were also had with some comprehending partygoers who truly wanted to hear more.

Ricky Springer outside 'Bonkers Nightclub', Durban

On Saturday July 2nd we hit the beach front and preached outside Joe Kool’s Pub and Restaurant and later that evening at the Durban July Horse race event’s after-party. Jesse had the privilege of having beer poured over him, but the preaching went forth to the after-party revellers. They had just spent their day in drunkenness and covetousness with their gambling. Many tracts were handed out and conversations were also had all to the Glory of God Almighty. Later the evening we went for a fellowship meal in Morningside (?) and we came across a car-guard who had been stabbed in the back. It would appear that this had something to do with xenophobia as the guy who had been stabbed was from outside of South Africa. After assisting with the calling of an ambulance and Jesse sharing the Gospel with the group of car-guards gathered around the injured man, we enjoyed good fellowship and some delicious pizza.

Jesse Boyd (preaching) and Vincent Piater witnessing to two Ugandans on Durban Beachfront

Sunday July 3rd we went back to the beachfront and preached Christ to the hordes of people out on the promenade. It would appear that there were many Muslims present. Many, many tracts were handed out, engaging one-2-one witnessing conversations were had, and solid Christ glorifying preaching of the Gospel of Salvation, the preaching of the Kingdom of God went forth. Despite some trials that Jesse encountered on Sunday evening, he had also taken ill with a fever, that with prayer to our mighty God, medication and a night of rest his fever broke and Monday morning early on July 4th our brothers were on their next leg of their journey to Nelspruit. It was a sad day seeing them depart, but the Gospel must go forth for the Glory of God.

Here is a video of ‘Down in Africa’:

World Cup Outreach ~ Durban

On Sunday June 13, a group of evangelists met on the Durban beach front to get the Gospel of Jesus Christ into the hands of our foreign visitors and the locals leading up to the Germany vs. Australia match taking place in the evening.

A friend and I travelled down to Durban from Pietermaritzburg to meet up with Brother Glenn Smith and the other evangelists who would be arriving during the course of the day. We handed out many tracts and had some meaningful witnessing encounters all to the glory of God our Father. Although there were many people caught up in the occasion I found that there were alot of German supporters and Australian ‘Roo supporters that declined the invitation to receive the Gospel in tract and conversation form. However, there were those who did receive the Gospel – both foreign and local people alike.

German supporters received ‘Der Kaizer’ German Gospel Tracts

I had three very meaningful conversations (not that any are unmeaningful) – one just outside the Fan Park entrance with three male youngsters that were ‘strutting their stuff’, topless and muscular, Warren and friends, who were jovial at first, but became very ‘poker-faced’ and sober once the Law and Gospel of Grace were shared with them. They agreed to check out what I had shared with them. I encouraged them to read the Bible and see that what I had shared with them was from God’s Word.

The two other conversations were both with Roman Catholics – Yvonne (middle-aged) just inside the Fan Park entrance and Franklyn (middle-aged) awhile later who was handing out pamphlets warning against Drug Abuse. In both witnessing encounters the conversation revolved mainly around sinful man, confession to the priest and Jesus Christ our Advocate. As I shared with my friend later, the previous night I had been reading the Bible and I felt the Lord impressing upon me the highlighting of Matthew 23:9 ~

And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

This was the foundation of the witnessing encounters and both parties agreed to read and test what I had told them about Roman Catholicism. Please pray for Warren and friends, Yvonne and Franklyn. All praise, glory and honour to our God – our Lord Jesus Christ.

Here are some praise reports for our Awesome God from our team that gathered in Durban:

It is always a glorious time spending time in the vineyard reaching people for Christ. Bev, my wife and I came down to the beach front together. We are just sorry that we came down so late, as I had a preaching appointment at 1030 and only got home at about 1pm.

I found that most people were receptive and only had one encounter of total opposition to the gospel. Of course the greatest blessing was actually giving the gospel message to various nationalities, and found the most receptive recipients where the African folk from South Africa. I had a most interesting chat with a Moslem man from India who was a physio-therapist in Durban. He gave me his business card and requested that I contact him to pursue a further discussions with him. I praise God that, the door to a staunch Moslem has been opened.

All praise and glory to God.

Thanks so much for your part in organizing the outreach!! God is so good! David and I both had an awesome time sharing with people. Some were in too much of a hurry to chat but said they would read the tract. We both had several others who listened and agreed they were concerned about their eternal destination. One of my favorite moments was sharing with a group of four teenage girls from Australia. They started off joking around but when I got to the point of asking if this concerned them they were all very quiet and serious. They had obviously got the message and I trust they will take it further and make a solid committment to Christ!!

Our friends Daniel and Richard who also helped hand out tracts also had a good response. They handed out a large amount of German tracts and said they loved them.

Again thanks so much for letting us be part of this!!! I apologize for the brief report but we are in the midst of a week long vbs we are running at our church. I knew if I didn’t do this now it would likely get missed in the busyness!!!

God’s richest blessings!
