Answer to Cebo

Another visitor’s comment that needs to be corrected appeared at “Doctrine of Demons” (please read first) posted on September 1, 2010. The following comment from Cebo was received on August 27, 2013, quote:

Excuse me. But unless you have actually attended, listened, experienced the church or ceremonies you have no right to make these petty and ridiculous comments. This is not about race. It’s about faith something you clearly don’t have although you really try to. Firstly: there are no witch doctors or sangomas in the church. So I don’t know who lied to you. Secondly: Since when is keeping the Sabbath a bad thing because even Jesus preached about it. You should know that you are extremly biased and ignorant. This is a violation of people’s right here in SA. Nobody is forcing you to join our church, if you don’t like us then shut up and go on your own way. Polgyamy is practiced by those who want to. It’s got nothing to do with the church. And you would know the way to hell because that’s exactly the path you are taking. This is Africa and we were practicing our cultures loooooong before white people settled and they had nothing to do with evil. Just because one of your family members die, doesn’t mean they no longer exist. In fact, they are the ones who plead and pray on your behalf to God. If we are so evil then how come the membership just keeps increasing by the thousands each week. You keep preaching that Jesus is coming back. You say, “Very soon, we will see Jesus” each sunday but that day has yet to surface. Jesus is in Heaven alongside Shembe. You ‘Christians’ don’t even know the days of the wwek properly. Look up John 19 vs 42: “Since it was the day before the Sabbath and because the tomb was close by, they placed Jesus’ body there.” So he was buried and then at John 20 vs 1: “Early on SUNDAY morning…” so Friday he was buried and Saturday the rested and worshipped and then Sunday, they carried on with their work. Read your Bible closely Mr Crous and then maybe we can start talking because if there’s anything Nazarites don’t put up with; it’s ignorant people who preach rubbish. Man!

Repent and Believe South Africa ministries respond as follows:

Dear Cebo

You are sorely mistaken by all your allegations that you make in your comments. This is not the first time that reviling has been directed at me and it certainly will not be the last. What has been written has been written. Go back and see that it was an African who wrote the initial article! I will address certain of your points. When a person goes and prays to the Amadlozi (ancestors) does he/she not consult the witchdoctor/sangoma as to the sacrifice to be offered? You might not know, but I have Zulu-brothers in Christ who have come out of the ancestor culture! Deuteronomy 18:9-11 reads as follows:

Deu 18:9 When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.

Deu 18:10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,

Deu 18:11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.

For the unlearned “a necromancer” is someone that consults and speaks with the dead! God calls that an abomination – in other words GOD HATES IT! Therefore your praying to your ancestors is an abomination to God.

You make the statement, quote: “Since when is keeping the Sabbath a bad thing because even Jesus preached about it.” Keeping the Sabbath does not bring salvation and besides it’s the only Commandment not mentioned in the New Testament to be kept. The Lord Jesus Christ is the Sabbath Rest. Read in the Book of Hebrews (as it is in the New Testament, Shembe followers miss the revelation of the fulfilment of the Old Testament) where it reads:

Heb 4:1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.

Heb 4:2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

Heb 4:3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

Heb 4:4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.

Heb 4:5 And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.

Heb 4:6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:

Heb 4:7 Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

Heb 4:8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.

Heb 4:9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

Heb 4:10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

Heb 4:11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

Read Hebrews 4:9-11 again. We also read how the Pharisees wanted to stone the Lord Jesus Christ for breaking the Sabbath. The Scriptures that stand out the most are read in the Gospel according to Saint John:

John 5:18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.

John 9:16 Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.

The polygamy issue has been dealt with in previous comments. Please go back and read them.

You make a statement, quote: “This is Africa and we were practicing our cultures loooooong before white people settled and they had nothing to do with evil.” If it was not for the “white missionaries” coming to these South African shores, the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Way of Salvation would not have come to the African man. Light entered into darkness. Whilst you still want to hold onto practicing your cultures, God says that your “cultures” which are traditions are kept and make His Word of none effect. In other words, you will rather keep your culture, or mix it with God’s commands, which render God’s commands as null and void. Hear what the Bible tells you:

Matthew 15:3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?

Mark 7:9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

Mark 7:13 Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.

You then make an absurd statement that is ridiculous to say the least, quote: “Just because one of your family members die, doesn’t mean they no longer exist. In fact, they are the ones who plead and pray on your behalf to God.” You say “In fact” – where is it written what you say to be a fact? Where is your evidence? This is foolishness! The Word of God says “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” (see 1 Timothy 2:5). God does not say family members, ancestors or Shembe makes intercession on behalf of believers, BUT the Lord Jesus Christ, as we read from the Scriptures:

Romans 8:34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

Hebrews 7:25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

With regards to your statement, quote: “If we are so evil then how come the membership just keeps increasing by the thousands each week.” Remember this, just because a membership increases in a gathering, doesn’t mean that it is of God. Ever heard the saying: “The devil looks after its own”? People who are deceived will follow deception!

As far as your statement that reads, quote: “You keep preaching that Jesus is coming back. You say, “Very soon, we will see Jesus” each sunday but that day has yet to surface.” Firstly, I don’t preach that. I do however preach that the Lord Jesus Christ will return, “And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.” (see Matthew 24:30). We also read in 2 Peter 3:8 “…, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.” Since the Lord Jesus Christ ascended into heaven it has only been about “two days” in God’s calculation. So, one day it will happen … and are YOU ready for it? Stop blaspheming God’s Son’s return! And secondly, Jesus is not in heaven alongside Shembe as you allude to. The Lord Jesus Christ is at the right-hand of God Almighty, not a mere dead man named Shembe. Before the incarnation (God becoming a Man in the Person of Jesus Christ – see John 1:1,2,14) Christ was at God’s right-hand as the eternal Son the second Person of the Trinity; now He is at God’s right-hand of all authority as the beloved Son, the God-Man, the Messiah, the King of the universe. We read in Ephesians 1:20-23:

Eph 1:20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,

Eph 1:21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:

Eph 1:22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,

Eph 1:23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

There’s not much to comment on how you concluded your comments. All that is left to be said is: Ukupenduka amaNazaretha!!

  1. Mmm nyc words to the one who speak for nazareth baptist church.shembe came for the black people to bring Sabbata.Jesus came for the judas(white people) bt Judas killed him.n he ws berried down like every one by his father.Jesus was a king of Sabbat.

    • Dear Sifiso

If “Shembe came for the black people” as you say, and he did not die for your sins, and he did not rise from the grave, then how do you expect your sins to be forgiven by YHVH (God)? Yeshua Messiah (Jesus Christ) did not come just for the “white people” (your words), but He came for the world, but sadly the great majority of the world is rejecting Him as their Saviour. And “Judas” are not “white people.” You, Sifiso, have been misinformed and lied to by heretical teachings. This is what makes the Shembe religion so dangerous concerning the Shembe followers’ souls!

Please repent (ukupenduka) and turn to the True God and Messiah who is able to save you from YHVH’s wrath! Time is running out!

      • Point of correction…..Africans knew God long before so called missionaries came…. We pray to the creator and call God of our forefathers just as you would say God of Abraham, David & Isaac. Only most of our ancestors obeyed God and new his ways that’s why True Africans say God of my ancestors by our own family forefathers surname…..and just as Hebrews did . Jesus himself spoke to Prophets who were already dead when he was praying with his deciples at the mountain…was he praying to them? No ….this is indicative the spirit leaves on . Search the scriptures Gary . Mathew 17. Moreover Jesus referred to John the Baptist as second coming of Elijah these are spiritual things you will never understand because of ignorance …….are you so insecure with your Faith that the devil is taking you over ? Judge yourself not other because you are breaking an important commandment yourself. Romans 14:11, Mathew 7:1. Look to Yashua of Nazareth and avoid taking over God’s duty. Romans 14. And if it so happens that you are resilient read and understand James 4:11-12. Be a “child” and see the kindom of God and stop looking at African religion with European spectacles. Why do you demonize what you don’t know? Slavery of many black people in the world was caused by people who used the Word of God in wrong context. You always reference the bible only when it favor your personal opinion without a sound doctrine. You can’t tell Africans how to worship are the ones who used chains to rule and now that your plans are failing you are now introducing mental slavery…to fellow African brothers who go to your church and are deceived by your lies….you come in the Gods name but your plan is to decieve. How do you know that Shembe did not die for their sins? Or Rise from the grave?was it written somewhere? Or you just could not find it in the Bible and assumed so? Be careful because many criticized Jesus and crucified him just like you do Shembe and . This was because Jesus was spoken of but His name was not revealed in the old testament but only near his birth and it it was not written in a book but they failed to see a sign of just fruits from his ways and thought of him just as a mere carpenters son. Shembe is a Saint and many Souls are saved by his calling. Stick to your own business

      • Tumza,

Africans did know about GOD, but they did not initially know about His Son Jesus Christ. The European missionaries brought the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the African man. In fact without the European missionaries there would not be any Bible in the local African languages. They were the translators of the Bible into many indigenous African languages.

John the Baptist came in the “spirit and power of Elias (Elijah)” (Luke 1:17). It wasn’t Elijah coming in person, but John the Baptist was the fulfilment of the forerunner prophesied in Malachi 3:1. And John the Baptist did come in the power and spirit of Elijah as a preacher!

The Son of God, the Son of man who is the Lord Jesus Christ said that if a person judges they must do it with righteous judgment, as we read:

John 7:24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

If anyone is in error or believing falsehood, a born-again Christian can use GOD’s Word to judge righteously using His Holy standard. Also please do not misquote Scripture and use Matthew 7:1. All you see is “Judge not.” Read the full context. It is making reference to someone that is breaking the very same commands of GOD and then the person wants to correct his brother when by his very own actions he is being hypocritical!

You make many accusations by your misquoting Scripture. I am not taking the place of Jesus Christ or taking over God’s duty as you say. We are however commanded to preach the truth and evangelise the lost – and that will include those who are following after man’s traditions and customs and false religious practices.

It would also be appreciated that if you want to be racist and make accusations about “slavery” you would get your facts correct. Apartheid was wrong and it was not by all white people. Slavery started with Islam and the Ottoman Empire if you would check the history behind it and it wasn’t only Africans who were made slaves but Christians too including whites. And it were white men that had the slave trade abolished – headed by the Brit William Wilberforce and missionary and African pioneer Dr David Livingstone. In fact we have a greater scourge today with “human trafficking” that knows no bounds when it comes to race, sex, age, nationality, and economic status!

Know this you are teaching a doctrine of devils if you say Shembe died to set African men free! To teach this you are speaking by a lying spirit! GOD’s Word confirms that HE only sent HIS Son Jesus Christ to redeem sinners back to HIMSELF, as we read:

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

        1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
        10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. ~ Philippians 2:9-11

Please Repent of your false teachings and beliefs! GOD is merciful to those who will acknowledge their sinful lives.

Maybe also read up on how the translations of the Bible came about for the African brethren – mostly by white colonialists:

Sotho (South Africa) – Samuel Rolland (1801-1873), first missionary of the Paris Missionary Society, translated some parts of the New Testament and several hymns into Sotho language in the 1840s. Today there are Northern Sotho and Southern Sotho versions. [Robert C. Germond Chronicles of Basutoland 1967 “Samuel Rolland – Born at Pierrefontaine (Doubs), on 13th May, 1801. Died at Hermon (Basutoland), on 18th January, 1873. With Prosper Lemue and Bisseux, Roland belonged to the first team of missionaries sent to South Africa by the mission.”]

Xhosa (South Africa) – Henry Hare Dugmore, a Methodist, translated into Xhosa language. Tiyo Soga (1829-1871) was ordained the first African Presbyterian minister in 1856 and also translated. Translation John (uYohane) 3:16 Bible Society of South Africa (1975) Kuba wenjenje uThixo ukulithanda kwakhe ihlabathi, ude wancama uNyana wakhe okuphela kwamzeleyo, ukuze bonke abakholwayo kuye bangatshabalali, koko babe nobomi obungunaphakade.

Zulu (South Africa) – In 1837, the first portions of the Bible in the Zulu language were published, in the “First Book for Readers” portions of Genesis and two Psalms were published. The first book of the Bible to be translated into Zulu language, was Matthew’s Gospel, published in 1848 by the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions (ABCFM). This was translated by George Champion (missionary), and revised by Newton Adams. The complete New Testament was published in 1865, translated by a several missionaries of the ABCFM. And the complete Bible, translated also by many members of ABCFM, and corrected by Andrew Abraham, and finally edited by S. C. Pixley was published in 1883.[Faith and Narrative by Keith E. Yandell, pg. 27][The Zulu Yesterday and To-day: Twenty-nine Years in South Africa by Gertrude Rachel Hance, pg. 45] It was revised in 1959, and published in London by the British and Foreign Bible Society. A Modern Zulu New Testament, and as the Psalms was completed in 1986 and published in Cape Town by the Bible Society of South Africa. This was translated by Dean Nils Joëlson, and project co-ordinated by, Mr. D. T. Maseko and Mr. K. Magubane. John William Colenso and Hans Paludan Smith Schreuder are also said to have worked on Zulu Bible translation. Translation John 3:16 (American Bible Society, 1883) uTixo wa li tanda izwe kangaka, wa nika iNdodana yake e zelwe yodwa, ukuba bonke aba kolwa iyo ba nga bubi, ba be nokupila okupakade.

  2. to me shembe is the one, he’s the way and I won’t like to go far with this I believe in ancestors, shembe you are everything to father

    • Good for you, and dont let anyone else tell you otherwise bafo! Umuntu nomuntu unelungelo lokukholelwa akholwa yikho!

  3. I’ll just leave this here!

Gary your Christianity is not the truth (lacks concrete evidence, like all religions) its a belief system! (To Believe, is to accept something as if it were true).

Therefore its ignorant for you & those African brothers of yours in Christ who’ve left their initial culture, to criticize other religions and cultures.

We have Christians who convert to atheism, islam, shembe etc and vice versa. No religion is the ultimate truth, they’re all truths claimed.

So please stay in your lane, and allow others to stay in theirs too.

    • Christianty , Dustza was never intended to be a religion
( Hebrews 1:8-10=”But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands”)

John1:1″In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
& John 1:14 “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Jesus Christ did not come to establish a religion there were already religious folks when He physically came on earth. In John 10:10 Jesus says” I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” .This life is called Zoe which means God-kind of life ,experiencing the fullness of God’s love and life here on earth and when He was crucified it was not only for our sins but this life was givn to us.God made us different and vibrant, look around you not even flowers /animals/plants are not of the same kind but all are created by God .He made us so that we may glorify Him in all our forms ,languages and not to deviate from Him ,I can glorify HIm in my tswana language wearing my “traditional attire’ . Many over the years many have tried to steal the Glory of God .

Romans 1:21-23 =” (21)Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.(22) Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,(23) And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.”
The only person who can reveal this Truth you so desire is God through the Holy Spirit ,the revealer of ALL Truth (John 16:23)

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me( John 14:6)

Jesus Christ is the Way the Truth and the Life.

  4. Jesus did not die he raised from the dead read 1 Thessalonians 4:14 and again JESUS is not for whites read Acts 10:34-35 shembe has no power to save people be it “DID HE RISE FROM THE DEAD NOPE” but JESUS did, he defeated death John 11:25-26 and Mark 16:6 what we know about shembe is he is dead that’s it and not happy that he is dead but JESUS says “I am the resurrection and life whoever believes in me will live even when he dies” it is amazing isn’t? you should change to follow JESUS I am not judging but i am showing you the way…JESUS loves you more than your shembe do he died for you SPECIFICALLY YOU read 2 Corinthians 5:15, shembe died because he was ill maybe or something not for you.

  5. dear tumza do you read your BIBLE…..JESUS THE MESSIAH was mentioned in old testament as the coming Lord the SAVER…read Isaiah 7:14 and Isaiah 9:6…..shembe was not prophesied in the bible as the coming Lord or God

  6. dear tumza my wish is worship JESUS becuase through him we are given authority to speak and have relationship with God….i am sure he is deperate to hear from you for he loves you

  7. To the black people who speak ill about Shembe my Messiah, I have a question.

    Thina sikhonza uNkulunkulu woBaba Mkhulu

    • @Wongama,

You are very mistaken in your view.

      1. I am black person and I am a Christian not because of oppression but because of the unconditional love of God who gave his Son to save sinners.

      2. No one in South Africa was killed or forced to become a Christian. Actually millions of Christians were killed by the Roman Catholic Church, forcing them to become Catholic. Also millions of Christians were killed by the Roman emperors. The religion that kills people who refuse it is Islam. Today Christians in the middle East are still killed by ISIS, the Islamic sect that seeks to force Islam into every country.

      3. Shembe is not the Messiah. He doesn’t come close to being. In order for Shembe to become the Messiah, he needed first to be a Jew born from the house of Juda, tracing his lineage back to King David and to Abraham. It’s quite obvious that Shembe isn’t a Jew.

Also the Messiah was prophecied in the Old Testament that He would die and rise again. Shembe did not fulfill that promise. As far as I know he is still dead and his sons were fighting and one of them has recently died. The Shembe system is a failure, it brings no one closer to God.

      • Thank you my dear Brother Lungisa for always standing for Truth!

      • Yes Shembe was not Jew,but Shembe was an Israelite, infact the Bantu people at large are the lost tribe of Gad who were led by Guni/Goni later translated as Nguni/Ngoni.we are of Shem.

Early Christians were referred to as the Nazarines or ‘The Way’ and kept the Sabbath Which the Nazareth Baptist Church still does.
Shembe…who is the Holy Spirit, came to resuscitate the Nazarine faith and the Zulu nation was the nation of choice.

Leopold II wrote a letter in 1883,which instructed the missionaries as to how they should deceive us and rob us our belief systems in regard to UTHIXO.

      • You are absolutely mistaken with your historical facts. Though early Christianity was called ‘The Way’ early Christians were never called Nazarenes, only Jesus was called by people a Nazarene because He grew up at the poor village called Nazareth the province of Galilee.
        2. Bantu people are not the descendants of Shem but they are the descendants of Cush the son of Ham, the son of Noah. The Cushites settled in the African continent and built cities there.
        3. Shembe is not the Holy Spirit, that is a lie. The Holy Spirit, is the Spirit of God who indwells every believer and enables each and everyone of them to testify of Jesus Christ.
Shembe is only a false prophet who died a traggic death in the end.

  8. Writing this after seeing a clip of Shembe saying “UNkulunkulu ka Shembe ubani? kunombuzo lapho obuzwayo, uNkulunkulu ka Shembe iNkosi UJesu”. Now I wonder if Shembe (whichever one) ever proclaimed to be God as his followers believe, did he ever say he is equal to The Lord Jesus Christ?
