Only True God

This article was forwarded to The Witness newspaper this morning. It has been amended slightly to include further information as the Editor reserves the right to shorten letters.

I was saddened reading the obituary of Tim McNally (74) (in an article titled “Last of the old-style A-Gs” (The Witness July 26, 2013) [this article does not appear to be on-line] and that he had died a Roman Catholic. [Here is another related article: Papal award for Tim McNally The Witness May 14, 2012] The son of a British army doctor, McNally was born in Faizabad in India in 1938. He died at Wembley House, Pietermaritzburg, on the afternoon of Thursday July 25, 2013.

Religious people rely and practice beliefs based on works (indulgences), hoping good deeds will please God to attain ‘salvation’ in their religious form. These work-based religions include Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Roman Catholicism, Shembe, Jehovah Witnesses, Mormonism, New Age, The Twelve Apostles, and a plethora of other religions, cults and sects.

God saves not by works, but by grace through faith. Ephesians 2:8-10 reads:

8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Works do not precede salvation, but follows salvation and continues thereafter for God’s sole will and purpose. God has already completed salvation through His Son the Lord Jesus Christ. John 3:36 reads:

He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Jesus Christ defined eternal life as:

And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. (John 17:3).

I would rather believe the only true God than the ecumenical inter-faith gods of false religion. Repent and believe upon Jesus Christ for that is your only hope. For if you do not, hell and the lake of fire awaits you on Judgment Day.
